Meet Cornellious Mutoigo – Five Years of Hustle, Growth, and Impact at MOGO
06.08.2025

Cornellious Paul Mutoigo, our Boda Sales Manager, is celebrating five incredible years with the MOGO family. Sitting down with him, it quickly becomes clear that his journey has been anything but ordinary.
Cornellious studied Business Computing at university, but his heart was always drawn to finance. “I always admired working in anything finance-related,” he recalls. Growing up in the city and attending day school all his life shaped his resilience and sharpened his hustle. “Studying within the city taught me survival,” he says. And yes, he admits with a smile, he had one unique advantage, back in primary school, while caning was a common punishment, he never experienced it. The reason? The Deputy Headmistress was his aunt, and that connection kept him “safe” throughout those years.
As he neared the end of his university studies, a lecturer recommended him for a job opportunity. At the same time, Cornellious had already applied for two other positions. In a rare stroke of luck especially in Uganda, all three called him back. Rather than choose one, he decided to juggle two roles: Pride Microfinance and Warid Telecom. Eventually, his focus turned fully to Pride Microfinance (now a bank), where he worked in credit, approving loans and climbing the ranks.
One day, an ex-colleague recommended him to MOGO. He joined as a Credit Analyst and has since grown into his current leadership role.
A typical day for Cornellious starts early, very early. He’s up between 4:30 and 5:00 am, beginning with a podcast or a good read. He then reviews the previous day’s performance, makes plans, and strategizes on how to improve results. This disciplined start, he believes, sets the tone for the rest of his day.
When asked what he enjoys most about his work, Cornellious lights up. “I love getting feedback from the teams about how things are running,” he says. “When setbacks happen, I get excited because I enjoy finding solutions.” That problem-solving spirit has fueled some of MOGO’s biggest wins, including one of his proudest moments, achieving 3,000 boda loans in a single month, a major milestone in company history.
Outside work, Cornellious is a true sports fanatic. He enjoys watching and playing football, darts, and chess. He’s also an avid journaler, capturing reflections about his day, and a self-proclaimed “random reader” who dives into anything yes, even things most people wouldn’t think to read.
