MOGO Uganda, Tree Adoption Partner to Resurrect Lazarus Forest
06.04.2025

Spanning 244.7 acres, Lazarus Forest faced near-total destruction a decade ago due to widespread vandalism by locals. However, thanks to the tireless work of Bethany Land Institute—an organization committed to replanting trees and educating communities about conservation and sustainable land use—the forest is gradually reclaiming its former glory. MOGO’s involvement marks a crucial milestone in this ongoing revival, underscoring the importance of corporate responsibility in environmental restoration.
Flavia Waighala, MOGO’s Head of HR, highlighted the urgency of such initiatives: “Conserving the environment is crucial to reducing carbon emissions and ensuring cleaner air, especially with rising industrialization and more vehicles on our roads.” Her statement resonates deeply given the growing global concern over climate change.
Moses Olara, the partnerships lead at Tree Adoption Uganda, commended MOGO for taking the initiative and planting trees at the Institute and asked corporate companies to make it a point to contribute towards environmental conservation.
This initiative not only restores a vital ecosystem but also serves as a model for how partnerships between corporations and conservation groups can create lasting impact.
